Like many African-American families, our journey began with questions.

Questions about where we come from.
Questions about who our ancestors were.
Questions about the legacy that was started long before we ever arrived.

After months of persistence from my inquisitive daughter, Asia, our family set out on a journey through ancestry.com to discover our roots. What we found was both eye-opening and humbling. Our history, like so many others, had gaps. We could only confidently trace back three generations before the trail became uncertain—leaving us to piece together fragments through clues, tips, and educated guesses.

But what we couldn’t fully uncover about our past ignited something even greater within us about our future.

It became clear that while we may not be able to fully reclaim every detail of where we’ve been, we have complete authority and responsibility over where we’re going.

And for our family, that path is clear.

We are called to serve.
We are called to love.
We are called to give.

At the heart of our mission is a simple, powerful command from Jesus:
“You give them something to eat.” — Matthew 14:16

That calling has become our conviction.

The Denson Family Legacy Foundation was not just created to preserve a name—it was built to create impact. To ensure that no person created in the image of God goes without something to eat. To turn faith into action. To turn legacy into service.
